The legality of sport booking is a subject of debate, however, a few states have begun to allow the activity. The legality of betting on sports is in Iowa from 2019 in both offline and online betting. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission oversees the industry, and a licensing fee is paid by the online operator. In Michigan, sports betting is legal both online and in casinos that are retail. The program was first introduced in three casinos in March 2020, a few months ahead of the Coronavirus pandemic. Mississippi also played in the sport betting industry, but hasn’t fully embraced mobile wagering.

The repeal of PASPA has created a wave of legislative and business momentum. As of late, four major American sports leagues are partnering with sports betting operators. Some have even launched official sports booking channels. Nevada is a notable example.
